We have everything we need…

…when we bring ourselves to the table.

About the Urban Fresh Food Collective

The Collective started as a collaboration between Seattle Parks Urban Food Systems program and Resistencia Coffee, after a group of youth walked into Resistencia and introduced themselves as “young entrepreneurs.” Overwhelmed with curiosity, the staff at Resistencia offered any help they could provide and the youth called them up a few weeks later to host their Farm Stand at Resistencia’s parking lot. Clearly, there was so much opportunity for continuing collaboration.

After several conversations, a group of residents, business owners, and city staff banded together with financial support from the City to create learning opportunities for South Park youth that would include learning about food systems, farming techniques, barista training, and entrepreneurship mentoring.

Today the Collective includes Cultivate South Park, Young Women Empowered, Resistencia Coffee, Wasat, and Seattle Parks & Recreation.
